What happens in Vegas…
This past weekend Brendan and I got away to Las Vegas. Brendan had a meeting there, Mom was in town for a visit, and Southwest had good rates for me to tag along. Basically a no brainer. When we got on the plane I told myself that this was a chance to really be renewed. We committed to take in the experience and enjoy every moment. I dug into extra prayer time. We took advantage of the hotel gym and sauna. We slept in (well as much as parents can – even when they are away).
We walked the strip, talked about life, laughed a lot, saw an amazing show, and gambled for hours. And we ate. And man did we eat good!! I mean we had big breakfasts, bloody Mary’s, Steak and fries under the “Eiffel Tower,” espresso, gelato, wine, tappas, sushi and more drinks. The shining moment was when we walked a mile to the M&M store and left with a couple keychains and two big bags of hand selected M&M’s to bring home to our kids. You guys – both bags were completely empty by the next morning. I’m not really sure if we ever really intended to share in the first place – but we enjoyed every bite.
So my point is, did we return home Sunday with a bunch of remorse or big intentions to diet and hit the gym hard?? No – we came home renewed. We live a lifestyle where its super easy to stay on track day to day and focus on priorities. But I believe sometimes it’s important to just live in the moment and enjoy every blessing – to simply indulge.
Anyway, just thought I’d share a little of our awesome Vegas adventure with you and also put in a plug to enjoy your favorite things from time to time without remorse. Now that the holidays are over, I look forward to getting back to my routine and being intentional in my decisions. Happy New Year!!! Now tell me, how do you indulge? I would love to hear your (not so guilty) pleasures.
And of course, let me know if you need any guidance on your own intentions for 2018 – I’m happy to talk about my health coaching options for you. Contact me anytime!!
